4) Comments
- BOR – FS Chairs/Board Chairs/Chancellor – 06/08/23 Capital budget passed which was $15 million. They made $50 million for deferred maintenance. They will have a budget of $65 million total. COLA passed for Classified staff for 12%, beginning July and 4% for next year, pending BOR approval. The same goes for Professional staff if it passes, in July, also pending BOR approval.
[GH] Will Classified be receiving the step increase? [EB]
[JL] – Do we know if the step increases were knocked out. Classified step-increase? [EB] Unsure.
[JL} The math on the 65% funded, puts us at a 7 to 8%. If they can increase it to 10-12% that would be fantastic.
[GH] Statewide there is more NHSE Classified staff than Professional.
[CM] Was that at the BOR where they were discussing the gap of 65% and how to make it up? [EB] At the moment they are not looking to raise student fees.
[KR] BOR meeting was this where there were discussing the gap?
[JL] The perception of Professional employees is seen as overpaid employees that do not need the increase.
[JL] Can we add an ad-hoc item about the positions? [EB] it will be mentioned later.
- BOR – FS and Business Officers – 06/09/23
[EB] The names for the Chancellor (4-6) candidate names will be announced June 21.
[EB] Juneteenth is now a holiday. Monday, June 19, 2023, we will be closed. [JL] – Anyone that has put in time for leave, please go in and make a correction. It is being tracked so that no one loses hours for taking time on a paid holiday. [EB] They are asking that people make corrections. Presidents are making announcements on campus. [JL] Especially for those under use-it-or lose-it. Each campus knows and entries are coming in organically to have it changed out. There is a job-aid for how to correct it on Workday, along with the announcement.
Crystal Abba is retiring, and her Emeritus has been requested, along with Toni Odom-McNeil.

- The Role of the chair is: To meet with the Chancellor once a month, he sits in on the BOR meetings and is the only Administrative Faculty member that has a voice. Ed is our advocate and representative for Faculty Senate. Our Chair has been able to invite speakers and members are welcome to have discussions with our guests.

- [KR] Are there subcommittees? [EB} It depends on agenda items but most special meetings are adhoc. [JL] If there is a notice of non-renewal and it is challenged the Faculty Senate creates a committee to be able to work with that process. We have a place in it and that is part of our representation.
