2023/2024 FACULTY SENATE

Tuesday, February 20, 2024

1) Call to Order

There was a call to order at 2:04 PM

Roll Call

1. Present:

1. Quorum established.

• Approval of Minutes – January 2024

Glenn moved to approve, Eric seconded the motion, and it was passed.

• Guest for February – No guest speaker for February

4) Comments

1. Congratulations to Chelsie on her promotion to Senior Assistant to the Chancellor and Office Manager.
2. Faculty Senate Chair Meeting 1/24/24
   1. The election for the Chair-of-Chairs will be held in the South this year.
   2. This year there is also a Vice-Chair-of-Chairs – The Vice-Chair-of-Chairs is Jim Lowe.

• The BOR is meeting at the end of February and March. On February 29 they will be hosting an ice-cream social at Hofbrauhaus from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Glenn will attend for Jim.

1. Chancellor and FS Chair meeting 1/24/24
   1. Everyone had an opportunity to meet the Chancellor.
   2. There are one-time spending asks for the following:
      • School of Medicine for $20M
      • Mental Health
      • COLA raises
      • Housing and food insecurities
      • Campus security and $5M in emergency fixes (6) Total is $110 Million out of the state budget.

• There was talk about the pa compression issues. iv) They discussed the funding formula on February 12 from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm.  v) Ed was unable to attend special BOR meeting on February 16.

5) New Business

1. The position of Chair for SA/SCS Faculty Senate continues to be open. We will be voting in July for a new Faculty Senate Chair. Ed would be willing to rerun but may not serve complete term. Glenn would also be willing to run. We will move this agenda item to Old Business until elections for the next term.
2. Glenn is pending news for any new Integrate projects. Ed will bring up the question at the next meeting because we may be waiting for a new Chancellor for cost increase on certain software and licensing issues.
3. We may invite Sherry Olson for the next meeting regarding UNUM long term disability and/or update on the employee review process.
