- Motion made by Spencer Lewis, second by Gar Casale.
- Send any edits or corrections to Gar.
- Guest: Chris Viton
- Chris and chancellor have been meeting with institutions on replacing their legislative one-shot funding with long-term actions. The Board will be approving fees and self-supporting budgets at the December meeting.
- Chris spoke on the system’s assessment which has had a significant increase lately. There has been no increase in the last 15 years. This is what covered our cost-of-living adjustments. Also covered some positions System Administration had added as well, that were not covered by the old assessment.
- System Administration is purchasing an office in Carson City to help relocate SA/SCS and to host meetings during legislative sessions. 1800 square foot residential office, located on Curry Street, one block from the Governor’s office. Purchase price $650,000.
- Spencer asked what System Administration was looking to lobby for in the next legislative session. Chris replied that he still needs to collect thoughts on what System Administration should specifically ask. It is difficult to make requests just for System Administration because the legislature sees us as an administrative unit, and not something directly student facing/impacting. As for what the system will lobby for, that will be determined as they look back on their recent visits to campuses, consult with business officers, narrow lists down.
- Cruz offered our resources and support.
- Jose asked about an update on the reno system office. Chris said that in the planning for the Veterans Affairs building the Reno system office was left out, but in talking with Jack, who represents the state’s parcel at the location, that they need our parcel as well. Nothing definite on where or when system administration will move.
